A new twist on a timeless drink. Variety is the spice of life, so we’re here for you.
What’s new? Usually profiled by a more whiskey forward flavor along with a splash of water to open up the flavor, this takes a new route. The biggest difference is the substitution of amaretto for whiskey and minimizing the simple syrup added.
What is Amaretto? This liqueur has a sweet, nutty flavor that’s often used to tame the bite of many spirits. Despite its almond flavor, it doesn’t always contain almonds — it’s made from either apricot pits or almonds or both.
Ingredients
1 oz. Crown Royal Reserve, or other whiskey you have on hand (maybe Knob Creek)
1/2 oz. Amaretto
1/4 oz. simple syrup
3 dash bitters
1 piece orange peel
Directions
- Muddle orange peel in a mixing tin
- Add ice, Whiskey, Amaretto, and syrup
- Shake 6 seconds
- Strain into a glass, and add bitters over the top
