Bartenders on the Rise – Lynnette Marrero

Lynnette Marrero needs little introduction. Besides her glittering career behind the stick in bars across the States, her work as an activist in the cocktail bar world and philanthropy for global charities sees her voted by her peers.

Marrero’s began her career in the Big Apple at the Flatiron Lounge in New York City and she has worked her way across the city’s finest hostelries. Her deep knowledge, passion and experience in cocktail-making was honed in Elettaria – where she first took an interest in rum and its heritage – and is now being passed on through her consultancy company, Drinks at 6. She is currently the bar director at standout Peruvian restaurant, Llama Inn.

While Marrero is a trailblazer in her sector, she is keen to help others follow in her footsteps. As the founder of LUPEC (Ladies United for the Preservation of Endangered Cocktails), she promotes the inclusion of women in the spirit industry and is seen as a voice of empowerment and diversity. Other notable projects include her role on the board at the Restaurant Workers’ Community Foundation, her work offering mental health support for hospitality staff and pioneering the bar programme for New York’s much-loved Morgenstern’s Finest Ice Cream.
