Let’s get Tiki. Speakeasy located inside Craft & Commerce on Kettner Blvd. in Little Italy. Get there early or call to make a reservation especially if you have a group or occasion you’re celebrating. It’s not huge inside and seating is very limited. You may have to suck it up and just stand, but if you’re only in for a quick drink it’s not so bad. Bar seating goes fast too! Crazy and colorful interior is a funky space, but very creative and unique!
Service good and they are great checking in on you and making recommendations if you’re undecided. Their menu is pretty extensive and they have a whole collection of fancy drinks to choose from. Great place for a GNO, guys night, or a casual gathering.
Peer behind a vine-shrouded doorway and you’ll discover an enchanting, tiki-filled grotto. Make an offering—or just a reservation—and you’ll be led through a cave-like entrance with glowing skulls. Inside this exotic hideaway, ceilings are blanketed in colorful glass buoys while the bar itself displays treasures from local tiki bars past and present. An illustrated menu features tiki classics and False Idol originals like Alkala the Fierce, a drink served in a shareable bowl with a flaming volcano. The drinks are quality, the attention to details even more so, and the ambience most of all.
As far as San Diego tiki bars go, this is worth the visit.
